ABC offers staff fresh three-year pay deal with 3% annual pay rises
The offer falls short of staff’s 5.5% pay demand, but the ABC claims it is better than several of the offers made at other media organisations in recent years.
The ABC has offered staff a 9% pay rise over three years and commitments to pay progression as part of a deal the broadcaster says is better than the average salary increases at rival organisations in recent years.
The offer was made during an all-staff town hall meeting on Wednesday, where ABC chief people and culture officer Deena Amorelli presented the proposal. It would give staff pay rises of 3% a year over the next three years, backdated to 1 October.
The offer also includes a commitment to pay progression for eligible staff, along with “enhanced leave entitlements”, according to presentation material seen by Capital Brief.
These entitlements include an increase in paid parental leave for supporting partners from four to 16 weeks, and an increase in personal/carer’s leave from 18 to 20 days for eligible staff. Staff would also gain new compassionate, disability and cultural leave entitlements.
