The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is seeking assurances from KPMG over its handling of confidential information for contracts worth $1.71 million as crisis engulfs the big four consultancy.

The ANAO told Capital Brief that KPMG provided advice that the firm has not identified any breach of Commonwealth confidential information. But the audit office has sought more details from the accounting giant following the consulting firm’s admission it had failed to adequately address its whistleblower’s allegations.

“As part of the ANAO’s consideration of its available contractual options, the ANAO has sought further assurances from KPMG,” the ANAO told Capital Brief in a statement on Friday.

These further assurances include the “specific arrangements” KPMG has in place to fulfil its confidentiality obligations to the government.
