ANZ to axe ESG, climate roles as Nuno Matos' restructure rolls on
A 30-year veteran of ANZ and the bank’s most prominent climate face will depart under a series of changes being announced internally this week.
ANZ's environmental, social and governance team (ESG) is next in line to be hit by Nuno Matos' restructure, with several jobs to be axed and the bank's most senior climate figure to depart.
Gerard Brown, the group general manager of climate, will leave ANZ in less than two weeks, Capital Brief has confirmed, amid a string of other cuts in ESG.
Brown had been managing ANZ’s 100 largest emitters, engaging with the bank's clients on reporting, governance, disclosures and progress against targets.
Reporting directly into group communications head Tony Warren, Brown is expected to retire after his exit, with his role restructured and a replacement not necessarily assigned.
