ARN mulls national expansion plans for Kyle and Jackie O Show

The ASX-listed radio company is discussing plans, which are not yet final, to expand the show to Brisbane from next year, as part of a longer-term plan to take the show national.

The plan, should it go ahead as discussed, would represent a marked effort from ARN to get more out of a landmark investment in the controversial radio presenters. ARN Media/Supplied.

ARN Media is considering a move to expand the Kyle and Jackie O Show into at least one new market from next year, despite the show’s challenged Melbourne expansion.

The ASX-listed radio firm is preparing to announce the show’s expansion at a presentation to advertisers — known within the media industry as an “upfronts” event — earmarked for the fourth quarter of this year, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

ARN is eyeing an expansion to Brisbane next, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because discussions are not final and subject to change. Brisbane could later be followed by Adelaide, and then possibly Perth.

Expansions to Adelaide and Perth are still the subject of ongoing deliberations given the timezone differences, the person said, and are still in their early stages.
