Australia's top China diplomat appointed to senior role in PM's department
Australia's ambassador in Beijing will head home after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's trip to China later this year.
Australia's ambassador to China, Graham Fletcher, has been appointed to a senior role in Anthony Albanese's department as the prime minister prepares for his trip to Beijing.
Fletcher, who has served as the head of mission in China since August 2019, will take up the role of deputy secretary of the international and security group in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in February next year.
He will replace Scott Dewar, who is moving to a senior role in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on October 1.
PM&C's first assistant secretary Lynette Wood will act in the deputy secretary role until Fletcher takes up his position.
