In her seven years as CEO of law firm Bartier Perry, Riana Steyn has overseen a 140% increase in revenue and a boom in headcount from 140 to 250.

With staff turnover at roughly half the industry average, Steyn is focused on maintaining a sense of collaborative culture as the firm grows and has her eyes set on improving diversity.

“The firm came from quite a low base in the past and it’s been a focus of mine to progress that. I’m really passionate about it and our chair and the board share that passion, while it remains a work in progress,” she said in a recent interview with Capital Brief.

Committed to a three-year strategy structure, Steyn says each of the firm’s six practice areas have growth targets, but it’s insurance and commercial disputes that have boomed more recently.
