An exasperated Commonwealth Bank chief executive Matt Comyn has taken a swipe at his big four rivals over their internal talent management after Westpac poached another one of his senior executives.

Capital Brief can reveal that Westpac's new CEO Anthony Miller has secured the signature of CBA's chief data analytics officer Andrew McMullan in his latest high-profile raid on a rival bank. The move is expected to be announced on Monday morning.

The poaching, the latest in a list of hires at Westpac, has prompted Comyn to come forward to lament the fact that his senior executives are constantly being approached. “I’m probably the only one in my executive team the other banks haven’t approached,” Comyn told Capital Brief.

At CBA, McMullan had been overseeing the bank’s migration of its data platforms to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud — a strategic shift Westpac is also undertaking as part of its UNITE program.
