Business leaders standing in the way of AI adoption, EY warns

Executives who do not encourage AI adoption are one of the key barriers holding companies back.

A top EY executive is warning that CEOs and senior managers risk holding back AI adoption by standing in the way of young talent eager to take up the new technology.

EY global vice chair for assurance Marie-Laure Delarue raised her concerns about those driving AI adoption in corporate Australia in an interview with Capital Brief, where she said entry-level employees are in some cases more eager for AI adoption than executives, boards and leaders.

"Graduates and young people are very, very eager to use these [AI] technologies. Once you have the platform and you have people who are curious and eager, it's not that difficult," Delarue said.

"The impediment or the hurdle to adoption is very often leaders not adopting it, and then limiting the ability of the company to understand the potential of AI," she said.
