Controversial US data miner Palantir reappears in Victoria's prison system

New job listings suggest the Victorian corrections department is using Palantir, a firm with deep links to the Trump administration, five years after its last public contract lapsed.

The controversial, USD360 billion data mining firm backed by one of Donald Trump's most prominent tech supporters and increasingly used by US law enforcement agencies appears to have found favour in the Victorian government.

Victoria’s Department of Justice and Community has been seeking prospects experienced with Palantir’s software, indicating the department has revived its relationship with the polarising defence contractor.

An Intelligence Officer role at Corrections Victoria's Intelligence Service posted last month seeks applicants with experience using "information management systems, preferably Palantir."

That mirrors previous ads, like one in search of two Security Check Officers posted in June as well as Corrections Intelligence Analyst roles posted on the Victorian government's internal job board, seeking the same qualification.
