Crypto exchanges step up political donations ahead of 'crucial' federal election
BTC Markets and Swyftx are among the crypto exchanges putting money behind both federal campaigns.
Cryptocurrency exchanges are calling the upcoming federal election the most important yet for their industry — and they're ponying up cash to ensure regulation remains on the winner’s radar.
BTC Markets CEO Caroline Bowler told Capital Brief that her exchange, like many others in the sector, has donated to both the Labor and Liberal parties ahead of the election, the date of which has yet to be announced.
"What we've donated to both parties is the most we've ever donated politically," Bowler said.
"This for us is the crucial election... I'm not so big-headed as to think this is the only issue based in the country, but god damn it — we can't miss this opportunity again."
