The Climate 200 founder warned that attempts to impose election spending caps, which have angered teal independents, could be challenged in the High Court.

Climate 200 founder Simon Holmes à Court insists his data shows every teal candidate can win if “they don’t stuff up”, despite polling that suggests at least two are in trouble.

In an interview with Capital Brief, Holmes à Court also warned of legal challenges if Labor’s planned election spending caps unfairly hamper independent candidates.

Redbridge polling released this week suggested the Coalition was on course to defeat two teals who seized seats in 2022, Goldstein MP Zoe Daniel and Curtin MP Kate Chaney.

While not commenting directly on those results, Holmes à Court said Climate 200’s own polling showed the teals roughly where they were five weeks out from the last election.
