Former Optus streaming boss Clive Dickens will target the sports rights business and the application of artificial intelligence in media with a new consultancy and venture firm set to launch this week.

The company, called Meliora, will begin with a team of nine based across Australia, the US, UK and Europe. Its focus will be on how artificial intelligence can drive growth across the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.

Dickens — most recently vice president of television, content and product development at Optus and previously an executive at Seven West Media — will also offer services on both sides of the sports rights market.

He said the firm will advise media companies seeking highly coveted broadcast rights, as well as sports administrators looking to drive fan engagement.
