Fund manager Geoff Wilson '100% supportive' of Greens tweak as Liberals' Tim Wilson readies anti-super tax campaign
Prominent fund manager Geoff Wilson and Liberal MP Tim Wilson are preparing for a fight that may be franking credits 2.0.
Prominent fund manager Geoff Wilson is willing to support the Greens' proposal to index the super tax threshold at $2 million if unrealised capital gains are left untouched, as his distant relative Tim Wilson reveals he already has funding lined up for his campaign against the tax.
New Greens leader Larissa Waters told Capital Brief last week that she did not yet have a final position on the policy, but the party has previously supported indexing and a lowering of the threshold of the planned tax from $3 million to $2 million.
Wilson Asset Management's Geoff Wilson has now told Capital Brief he has always had a "great working relationship" with the Greens and is "100% supportive" of its position on indexing.
“If they are prepared to take tax on unrealised gains off the table, I’m 100% supportive of dropping the threshold from $3 million to $2 million,” he said.
