Prominent fund manager and noted 'permabear' Jeremy Grantham has a typically stark message for investors: civilisation as we know it is under threat.
“I think we have less than a 50/50 chance of us coming through this with the kind of civilisation we’ve enjoyed so far and that [probability] is eroding around the edges,” he told investors at the Livewire Live conference in Sydney on Tuesday.
Grantham, who we reiterate is well known for his extremely bearish public commentary, may be concerned that humanity is facing more long-term problems now than perhaps at any point in modern history.
But he is a fund manager after all and still thinks there are ways to make money from arguably the biggest of these challenges.
