Hanson-led hung parliament in play as fresh poll sees One Nation threatening Labor
The latest Capital Brief/Demos AU MRP poll suggests One Nation could challenge Labor on seats and Pauline Hanson could even become prime minister — but only with Liberal Party support.
Pauline Hanson may have a realistic path to becoming prime minister according to comprehensive new polling which suggests One Nation could rival Labor for the most seats in the House of Representatives if an election were held now.
The latest quarterly Capital Brief/DemosAU MRP poll of more than 9,000 Australians shows One Nation continues to gouge into voter support from major parties and is bursting into the lead in rural, regional and outer metropolitan areas.
If the results were reflected in an election, the analysis predicts One Nation would win between 53 and 66 seats, while the Albanese government would win between 60 and 72 seats.
With 76 seats required to form a majority government, this would leave Labor needing to rely both Greens and independents to retain government, while One Nation would have to seek support from an increasingly antagonistic Coalition.
