How Brambles became an unlikely sustainability champion

Brambles has been lauded for its sustainable business model, which aims to regenerate the environments, economies and societies touched by its pallet businesses.

Not many businesses have a product that can be reused, shared, repaired and recycled like the humble pallet.

Brambles has leveraged the inherent circularity of its pallet business to strive for a fully regenerative business model, aiming to positively impact the environment, social fabric and economies of the communities in which it operates.

Typically, transport and logistics-focused businesses are not seen as particularly sustainable. However, Brambles’ focus on using less, sourcing sustainably and repairing and recycling infinitely has propelled it to the top echelons of corporate sustainability practice.

The company has consistently ranked highly on several sustainability indices, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the Corporate Knights Global 100. But its inclusion on the Time Magazine and Statista’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2024 list was a surprise to both the company’s internal sustainability team and market observers.
