The transcript of this interview with Greens candidate for Wills, Samantha Ratnam, has been edited for length, clarity and readability.

You obviously ran for this seat in 2016. You took a chunk out of Labor's lead, but still missed out by a decent margin. What's changed since then?

I think people's experiences of whether they can afford a home, whether they can afford to rent a home or ever think of buying a home. Especially for young people, [it’s] the cost of living.

Growing inequality, and how people experiencing that in their everyday lives. And a growing dissatisfaction with how major parties understand their lives, and the major parties aren’t doing enough to respond to those material hardships they’re experiencing.
