Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan joins PsiQuantum’s board
Tan was an early investor and adviser to the Australian government-backed company, which is currently planning to build two large scale quantum computers in Brisbane and in Chicago.
Australian government-backed PsiQuantum has appointed Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to its board of directors as the window for meeting plans to build the world’s first commercially useful quantum computer in Brisbane by 2027 narrows.
Tan has been CEO of the USD 476 billion ($665 billion) chipmaker since March 2025 and led the company while it negotiated with the Trump administration over the sale of a 10% equity stake to the US government. He was also an early investor and adviser to PsiQuantum from at least 2021.
He is also chair of venture capital firm Walden International and is a founding partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures and Celesta Capital.
Tan has extensive board experience and was also formerly the CEO of Cadence Design Systems, the developer of software used in the design and manufacture of advanced chips.
