Interim Nine CEO Matt Stanton resists push to name subjects of workplace complaints

The email follows growing staff backlash after last week’s release of an 82-page workplace culture report, which employees expected to prompt swift action.

In an email to staff on Monday, Stanton said there are a range of outcomes that could come from a formal investigation process, depending on whether complaints can be substantiated. AAP/James Ross.

Nine Entertainment’s interim chief executive Matt Stanton has told staff that the company will not be pushed to name the subjects of complaints despite public scrutiny after it launched a number of investigations following the release of a third-party workplace review.

In an email to staff on Monday, Stanton explained that outcomes of formal investigations would vary, depending on whether complaints were substantiated. Possible consequences include counselling, disciplinary action or termination of employment.

“We currently have a number of investigations underway into issues raised by employees, some of which are being led by an external investigator whom we have partnered with,” Stanton wrote in the email, seen by Capital Brief.

“No two cases are the same, and I’m sure you can appreciate these investigations need to be conducted in a manner that follows a just and proper process, which can take time. This will not be influenced by outside interest or public scrutiny.”
