Musk says OpenAI betrayed its mission. But as the trial enters its final stretch, prediction markets are turning against him.
If money talks, Elon Musk’s blockbuster lawsuit against OpenAI is in serious trouble.
In January, prediction markets rated the likelihood of a Musk victory over the maker of ChatGPT at 67.3%. After he finished giving evidence, those odds had fallen to 35.9%.
It’s hard finding any legal expert who has followed the proceedings in the US District Court for the Northern District of California to disagree.
Musk alleges OpenAI executives Sam Altman and Greg Brockman “stole a charity” when the company shifted to a capped-profit structure in 2019 after taking on investors including Microsoft.
