Labor plots industry specific roundtables ahead of economic reform summit
Invites have been issued to some of the world's biggest companies and major industry bodies for events in the run up to the government's flagship summit.
The Albanese government will bring together some of the world’s largest companies and representatives of key industry groups in a series of roundtables over the coming weeks.
The meetings aim to inform next month’s economic reform summit, which will lay the platform for Treasurer Jim Chalmers to deliver a broader reform package in the government’s second term.
Five people familiar with the plans, not authorised to speak publicly, told Capital Brief that invites have already been issued to major companies – like Microsoft – and key industry groups, including the Business Council of Australia and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia, for the various roundtables.
One industry source described the invitees to the various events as a “broad church”, with some organisations invited to multiple gatherings.
