Lambie recruits former Labor candidate to lead mainland election charge
A former state Labor candidate is running for the Jacqui Lambie Network, as he aims to become its first mainland senator.
The man looking to spread Jacqui Lambie’s influence to the mainland says Australia should look to “remarkable” Scandinavian countries as it balances social and defence spending.
On Friday, military lawyer and former Labor state candidate Glenn Kolomeitz will announce a tilt at becoming the Jacqui Lambie Network’s (JLN) first mainland senator, when he runs for a NSW seat at the next federal election.
Kolomeitz has a strong attachment to veterans, having served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for decades and publicly pushed for a royal commission into veteran suicide. But speaking to Capital Brief in an exclusive interview, he said defence spending “falls over” if social issues like health and housing aren’t addressed first.
“The bucket of money isn't bottomless … [but] the Scandinavians have been remarkable. They have very high taxation, but they have amazing social standards,” he said.
