Littleproud’s attack wounds Ley’s leadership — but raises questions about his own
Nationals leader David Littleproud has launched a full-frontal assault on Sussan Ley, in a move that could have consequences for both their leaderships.
Nationals leader David Littleproud’s full-frontal attack on Liberal counterpart Sussan Ley, as he confirmed the Coalition split, may have provided the trigger her leadership rivals were waiting for.
The mass resignation of Nationals frontbenchers on Wednesday night suggested Ley’s leadership was already terminal. If there was any doubt, Littleproud dispelled it the following morning.
“There is no [Nationals] shadow minister that wants to serve in Sussan Ley’s shadow ministry,” he said on Thursday.
“That was made clear to us in our shadow cabinet, and we are in solidarity with those three senators [who resigned from the frontbench on Wednesday].”
