A wake-up call on AI or marketing hype? Now the dust has settled on the announcement of Anthropic’s powerful AI tool, legal cyber experts say Claude Mythos is a bit of both. But there is no need to panic — just yet.

Capital Brief spoke to Ashurst Risk Advisory partner John Macpherson, Gilbert + Tobin technology partner Ross Phillipson, Ben Di Marco of global risk firm WTW and cybercrime expert David Rudduck about whether Mythos raises the bar on data protection.

Anthropic has delayed the release of Mythos, instead giving limited access to 40 select partners in the US so they can test their cybersecurity systems for vulnerabilities.

Security concerns intensified last week when Anthropic said it was investigating claims of “unauthorised access to Claude Mythos Preview through one of our third-party vendor environments”.
