NAB CEO Andrew Irvine puts on brave face after 'difficult' week, recommits to leadership
Speaking on stage at the Australian Banking Association conference, Irvine addressed scrutiny over his leadership style and personal conduct.
NAB CEO Andrew Irvine has used his first public appearance since facing pointed questions over his drinking and leadership style to recommit to leading the bank.
Appearing on stage at the Australian Banking Association (ABA) conference in Sydney on Wednesday, outgoing CEO Anna Bligh immediately invited Irvine to address the issue before beginning a panel session.
“Look, last week was difficult. I'm not going to beat around the bush, especially when [the] media is quite personal and public," Irvine said.
"So it was hard for me and for my family. I expect that there's public scrutiny in roles like this, and just hope that it's even handed and balanced," he said.
