Rupert Murdoch's News Corp has banned the use of Chinese artificial intelligence firm DeepSeek’s nascent chatbot by its staff globally due to concerns about security and privacy risks.

In an internal memo sent to global employees this weekend, and viewed by Capital Brief, the company said the decision came after its cybersecurity team conducted a review of the platform.

“The News Corp Cyber Team has conducted an assessment of the DeepSeek Al Platform, and has increased concerns about its security and privacy risks,” the memo reads.

“Given these concerns, the DeepSeek app and the web service should not be downloaded and/or used on corporate devices, and should not be accessed using corporate credentials. If the DeepSeek app has already been downloaded onto your device, please uninstall the app immediately.”
