News Corp is in discussions with OpenAI about a real estate product involving its US property portal, Realtor.com, in a sign the two companies are poised to expand their partnership beyond news.

The Murdoch led global media company's chief executive, Robert Thomson, revealed the discussions during an appearance at the annual Goldman Sachs Communicopia investor conference in San Francisco earlier this week.

Thomson said he and OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman are “deeply into property” and that there’s an “empathy” among the two companies that he expects to play out as the firms continue discussing the idea.

“It’s not a finished product yet, but early stage discussions,” Thomson told investors at the conference, according to a Quartr transcript of his appearance.
