News Corp staff brace for job cuts as CFO joins powerbrokers at Sydney HQ
A crop of News Corp’s most influential global powerbrokers have been in Sydney this week for a round of annual budget meetings, as the company's Australian staff brace for job cuts.
A number of News Corp’s most influential global executives have been spotted in the halls of the company’s Holt Street headquarters this week, sending speculation inside and outside the company into overdrive.
But one who has managed to travel under the radar so far is the company’s chief financial officer, Susan Panuccio. She may not have the profile of Rebekah Brooks, but as CFO she wields significant power, especially at a time when budgets are being reined in.
News Corp’s senior global executives are gathering in Sydney for annual budget discussions, as the company’s local outpost braces for the other shoe to drop on the most significant restructure deliberations in more than a decade.
Among the executives travelling with Panuccio is the company’s global chief executive Robert Thomson, as well as Brooks, the News UK chief executive, and News Corp chairman Lachlan Murdoch, a part-time Sydney resident.
