Nine drums up interest in Max advertising packages ahead of Australia launch
The HBO parent company has enlisted Nine Entertainment to sell ads for its standalone streaming platform ahead of its local launch later this month.
Nine Entertainment has begun pitching launch advertising packages for Warner Bros Discovery’s streaming platform Max as part of an opening salvo in a multimillion-dollar partnership launched earlier this week.
The partnership has already seen Nine move swiftly to drum up interest in 10 launch advertising packages on Max, which together account for more than $1.1 million in spend, ahead of its launch over the next two weeks.
WBD and Nine announced a partnership earlier this week that will see Australia’s largest domestic media company take a commission for selling ads on behalf of the HBO parent company. Max is set to launch locally on 31 March.
According to two people with direct knowledge of the discussions, Nine has started contacting media agencies to fill the national launch spots. The package offers some advertisers a guaranteed 2.2 million impressions at a rate of $50 per thousand — down from a market rate of $55 per thousand — in exchange for an investment of $110,000.
