Ooh!media's Cathy O’Connor linked to Nine CEO search as Bruce Gordon circles
The outdoor advertising executive has emerged as a wildcard contender for the CEO job at Nine, in a process that will ultimately be decided by top shareholder Bruce Gordon.
Ooh!media chief executive Cathy O’Connor has emerged as the latest wildcard name in Nine Entertainment's search for a new chief executive as expectations mount that top shareholder Bruce Gordon is moving to strengthen his grip over the legacy media operator.
Nine has formally kicked off a global search for a successor to chief executive Mike Sneesby, who will hand over to chief finance officer Matt Stanton as interim CEO from next month, after announcing he would step down from the role last week.
O’Connor’s name has surfaced among a trio of possible contenders for the role in recent days, alongside outgoing Foxtel executive Amanda Laing and former Nine executive Lizzie Young, according to people familiar with company leadership discussions.
The names have surfaced as part of informal discussions among Nine leadership, the people cautioned, and do not equate to formal consideration or a shortlist for the top job, which may not be finalised for months yet.
