Optus shakes up leadership team ahead of new CEO’s arrival

Interim chief executive Michael Venter told staff on Wednesday that the company would bring in NBN Co's Felicity Ross and Airtel Africa's Anthony Shiner later this year.

Optus has reshuffled its top ranks with two new appointments to its executive committee as the company prepares for the arrival of incoming chief executive Stephen Rue later this year.

Optus’s interim chief executive Michael Venter told staff on Wednesday that the telecommunications firm will bring in NBN Co chief corporate affairs officer Felicity Ross and Airtel Africa chief commercial officer Anthony Shiner as managing directors.

Ross will join the company in the newly created role of managing director of corporate affairs and marketing in December, after six years as chief corporate affairs officer at NBN Co. Shiner, meanwhile, has been appointed managing director of customer solutions, starting in October.

“Felicity has a strong background in brand, reputation, telecommunications policy and regulation, and during more than six years at NBN has developed outstanding relationships with key stakeholders across government, media and industry,” Venter said of Ross on Wednesday.
