New Greens leader Larissa Waters has committed to supporting the Albanese government if it chooses to pursue progressive reforms, declaring that this Parliament will demonstrate whether Labor remains “the party of Whitlam”.
Labor’s unprecedented majority has many progressives, including within its own ranks, urging it to spend its political capital on a bold agenda.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was quick to temper calls to go further, declaring his "ambitious" government had a mandate to deliver the platform it took to the election.
