Peter Costello resigns from Nine Entertainment
Peter Costello has resigned as chairman of Nine Entertainment.
Former federal treasurer Peter Costello has stepped down as chairman of Nine Entertainment following a tumultuous period for the nation's largest domestic media company.
In a statement issued to the ASX late on Sunday, Costello confirmed he would step down from the board effectively immediately. He will be replaced in the position by director Catherine West.
The move comes just days after Costello was accused of knocking a News Corp journalist to the ground at Canberra airport. Costello denies the accusation.
Nine has been rocked by a series of internal scandals over the past month involving former senior executives. The scandals have sparked significant tensions on the Nine board and on within its senior executive ranks.
