Peter Thiel's Palantir taps Australian lobbyist amid Greens backlash
The defence tech company is now represented by CMAX Advisory, a government relations firm started by Christian Taubenschlag.
Palantir has appointed CMAX Advisory for lobbying duties a month after the Greens called for an immediate freeze on the defence tech company's government contracts.
CMAX Advisory was founded by Christian Taubenschlag, a former chief of staff to Labor defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon, and represents other defence companies like Austal and Raytheon.
Palantir was listed as a client on the Attorney-General's lobbyist register as of July 28. CMAX Advisory confirmed Palantir is now a customer.
Founded by Peter Thiel and current CEO Alex Karp in 2003, Palantir was created to be a data analytics software platform to service the US' defence establishment in the wake of 9/11. Its capabilities have become superpowered in the era of AI, used by agencies like ICE to create a shortlist of potential undocumented migrants and companies like Coles to predict how many workers will be needed across its supermarkets.
