Politico Europe chief returns to Australia amid local launch intrigue
The influential political news publisher's European director visited Australia in December for the second time in just months amid mounting intrigue over its plans for Australia.
The director of Politico’s European operation has visited Australia twice this year amid mounting intrigue over whether the publication favoured by policymakers in Washington and Brussels is considering expanding to Australia.
Jamil Anderlini, regional director of Politico Europe, was most recently in Australia earlier this month for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Sydney Dialogue event, where he was a speaker alongside a crop of influential global policy figures.
Politico was the media partner for the event, Anderlini told Capital Brief, which was the reason for his second visit to Australia in just five months. He said the publisher has no “imminent plans” to expand its operations to Australia.
“At this stage, we do not have any imminent plans to expand coverage to Australia. In fact, just last week, we announced our expansion into Spain and the Nordics, which will definitely keep me and my colleagues very busy in the coming months,” he said.
