Pressure mounts on Optus after triple-zero email bungle admission
Optus admitted it emailed the wrong government address about its triple-zero outage, sparking Coalition outrage and more heat on CEO Stephen Rue.
Optus twice emailed the wrong address alerting the government to its triple zero outage, meaning departmental officials were unaware of the deadly incident for more than 24 hours.
The revelation adds pressure to under-fire Optus chief executive Stephen Rue, who was hauled into Parliament by Communications Minister Anika Wells on Tuesday, as he rejects calls for his resignation.
But communications and infrastructure department officials also faced pressure after revelations they only alerted telcos to the new address a week prior to the outage, and had promised to "temporarily" monitor the old email.
The Greens are demanding Optus be hauled before a Senate inquiry to explain the incident, which authorities believe is linked to the death of at least three Australians.
