Sharon AI steps up charm offensive as it navigates uncertain territory
Chief executive James Manning laughed off questions about a recent short report that shot holes in his business. But a bigger question posed by a key partner may be harder to push aside.
Sharon AI chief executive James Manning really couldn’t have timed his guest appearance at the Macquarie Australia Conference on Thursday any better.
In the wake of a searing short report by New York hedge fund Bleecker Street Research — which called out “phantom contracts” signed by the neocloud, misleading statements about its relationship with key global partner Nvidia, and claims that Manning privately pledged to burn his previous company “to the ground” — the moderator used his first question to address the elephant in the room.
“There’s been a little bit of press and commentary, and a short report,” he said. “How would you like to address this?”
“Have you seen the share price today?” Manning replied with a grin, sparking a wave of laughter across the packed conference room.
