Telstra's tech chief unveils its AI-powered 'next big thing'
Telstra is about halfway through transitioning its entire business around artificial intelligence, product and technology group executive Kim Krogh Andersen told Capital Brief.
The most senior product technology executive at Telstra has pulled the wraps off the telco behemoth's most ambitious artificial intelligence project to date and also shed light on its small investment into one of the country's most closely watched quantum computing businesses.
In an interview with Capital Brief, Telstra’s executive in charge of technology and product Kim Krogh Andersen echoed sentiments expressed by his chief executive Vicki Brady on artificial intelligence, saying he expects "AI will redefine our business". He revealed the company is in the process of combining two separate streams of data in a bid to boost its historically poor customer service as part of a project dubbed "Customer IQ". Krogh Andersen described the project to merge insights it has gained from its investments in customer research with data from customers phones and modems as one of the telco's "next big things".
Brady has flagged AI as a major priority and efficiency driver for the company, with its T25 cost cutting program set to expire next year.
