Tensions reach board level as scandal rocks Nine
Some directors of the country's largest domestic media company are aggrieved at the way a complaint against a former executive was handled.
Fresh tensions are threatening to erupt on the board of Nine Entertainment as the nation's largest domestic media company grapples with allegations of inappropriate behaviour by a former senior executive.
Nine has been rocked this week by a series of stories in The Australian and other News Corp titles reporting that the company's former television news boss Darren Wick had been the subject of a complaint over inappropriate behaviour and a subsequent investigation conducted by an external law firm.
The investigation did not make any findings against Wick, whose resignation was announced to staff late on the Friday of 15 March following an extended period of leave early this year.
The initial complaint was closely held by a small group of executives within the Nine c-suite, according to one source familiar with the matter, including chief executive Mike Sneesby, as well as top communications executive Victoria Buchan, Michael Healy, director of the company’s television division, and the company’s people and culture director, Vanessa Morley.
