This artist used ChatGPT to create an $80m memecoin. Now what?
Turbo was possibly the first cryptocurrency almost entirely generated by AI. Created by a Melbourne artist, it hit a market cap of US$80 million in a matter of days.
Melbourne artist Rhett Mankind gave ChatGPT a task: using only $69, figure out a way to create a cryptocurrency that can become among the biggest in the world.
Two weeks later the token it created, Turbo, hit a market cap of USD82 million.
“With this Turbo project, I did something I never even thought I’d be capable of, making a token,” said Rhett, who like many people in crypto uses a pseudonym. He says his success illustrates why artists should be embracing rather than rejecting artificial intelligence.
“The coding capabilities are outside my skill set. Now, with AI, I can actually do that. I can think bigger than what I could before.”
