Despite a first strike against his company's executive remuneration report, it had been a day of triumph for Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest.

On the day of its AGM, shares of Fortescue Metals, the mining giant he started more than two decades ago, had just hit a record high. The iron ore price had tipped over USD130 a tonne. Forrest been lauded for his success all morning by happy shareholders and his board alike while unveiling his green vision for the company’s future.

On the face of it, you would think Forrest would be over the moon. But the founder and chair was overzealous, springing to his feet at the conclusion of the meeting to share his dissatisfaction with his board before the microphones were shut off.

“Team, we’re going to need to do something about this AGM,” he started.
