The intel: New York-based risk and financial advisory firm Kroll is looking to expand its restructuring business in Australia and has met with rival firms, triggering speculation it is on the hunt for acquisitions.

Executives from Kroll's Sydney office recently met with McGrathNicol, setting off rumours in the close-knit insolvency and restructuring industry.

However, sources with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed that while Kroll is in expansion mode in Australia and acquisitions could be possible, no deals are currently on the table.

A McGrathNicol spokesperson said the firm is not pursuing any transactions. The firm has had partnerships with offshore headquartered advisory businesses in the past.
