Vinyl Group accuses ex-Brag Media CEO of 'sham transactions' to secure loan
Vinyl Group alleges Luke Girgis faked payroll records to obtain a bank loan, as part of a broader legal dispute over his dismissal from The Brag Media.
Media company Vinyl Group has accused the former CEO of a company it acquired last year of manipulating payroll transactions to secure a bank loan, among other claims made in response to legal action launched earlier this year.
The allegations are detailed in documents filed with the NSW Supreme Court in response to legal action launched earlier this year by Luke Girgis, the former CEO of The Brag Media, which Vinyl acquired. Girgis claims he was dismissed in breach of his contract and denies the allegations.
The escalating legal matter comes amid a wave of investment from the media company’s billionaire backer, Richard White, and on the heels of a string of messy staff departures that have followed the acquisition of lifestyle and culture publications across the sector.
In its response to a commercial list filed by Girgis in April, Vinyl alleges that he “knowingly and intentionally” created false employment records showing he was on a $440,000 salary in order to obtain a loan from National Australia Bank.
