The US entertainment giant behind HBO has yet to confirm a Max launch date in Australia, but industry sources expect it to go live in the second quarter.
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has begun recruiting staff for its streaming platform Max in Australia as the company closes in on the final stages of a highly anticipated local launch.
The US entertainment giant, which owns HBO and a slate of high-value Hollywood IP, has yet to publicly confirm a launch date for Max in Australia, fuelling speculation within the media and entertainment industry about the platform’s working launch timeline.
According to sources briefed on discussions with commercial partners, WBD has flagged mid-April as a potential launch window. However, other industry sources expect Max to arrive later in the second quarter, given the company’s ongoing recruitment efforts.
WBD is currently hiring for a senior advertising sales manager, responsible for overseeing an external sales agency, and a social media head to manage the Max launch and beyond, according to job postings.
