With a relentless global equity rally pushing up valuations in many advanced economies, is it time to reconsider emerging markets?

Vlad Byalik, portfolio manager and senior research analyst at US fund manager Ariel Investments, thinks so and says the best opportunities are right in Australia's backyard.

"Southeast Asia, or what I would call ASEAN, is one of the most attractive parts of our universe," he told Capital Brief.

"You’re often getting a growth rate that’s only slightly less than India for a fraction of the valuation."
