Why Koda Capital likes private credit and avoids government bonds
In the impact investing space, the best decisions are not always the most obvious ones, as Koda Capital CIO Norman Zhang explains in this interview.
Koda Capital doesn't invest in government bonds. Chief investment officer Norman Zhang says that stance, among its most contrarian investment decision, is a philosophical one.
"When you see a typical portfolio, you might see between 9-15% invested in sovereign bonds," he says.
"We feel philosophically that for private clients, this asset class isn't necessary and we don't really need this asset class from a portfolio construction perspective. We get downside protection through other means in the portfolio."
Koda says it aims to help clients ranging from wealthy individuals to not for profits and family offices achieve strong risk-adjusted returns from environmentally and socially responsible asset classes.
