‘Window dressing’: KPMG loses another director and taps ex NAB whistleblower for latest review
The embattled consulting firm is embarking on another review just as its governance comes under fresh scrutiny following the quiet resignation of another director.
KPMG Australia’s governance model is facing renewed criticism after another independent board director quietly resigned, as the embattled firm appoints a former NAB whistleblower to review the way it mishandled internal allegations.
Independent board member Patty Akopiantz resigned at the end of June, according to documents released this week by a parliamentary committee investigating the firm. The resignation has not been publicly announced by KPMG.
Akopiantz is the second Australian member of KPMG’s South ASPAC board, which governs its activity in this country, New Zealand and Singapore, to resign in the wake of the whistleblower scandal.
Former chair Martin Sheppard stepped down in June, while former CEO Andrew Yates resigned in May.
