ACCC says WiseTech completed Expedient acquisition despite knowledge of significant concerns
The news: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said WiseTech completed its acquisition of e2open despite being aware of significant concerns relating to the buyout of rival logistics software business Expedient.
The numbers: At 12:45pm AEDT, shares in WiseTech had slipped 3.7% to $66.01.
The context: WiseTech acquired rival logistics software business Expedient in August 2025 as a part of its broader acquisition of e2open Parent Holdings but following an ACCC investigation accepted a court-enforceable undertaking to sell Expedient.
Expedient was acquired by e2open group subsidiary BluJay in March 2020.
The ACCC investigation into the WiseTech acquisition was launched after the deal was completed.
The sale will be made to an ACCC approved seller on the grounds that Expedient can be operated “as a viable competitor to WiseTech in the supply of logistics software in Australia”. WiseTech is the largest supplier of cloud-based enterprise application software to the global logistics industry through its core product CargoWise.
ACCC chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb said the ACCC already “considers WiseTech already has substantial market power in the supply of logistics software” and the acquisition significantly reduces choice to Australian customers.
What they said: “While WiseTech informed the ACCC about the acquisition, Wisetech completed the acquisition before the ACCC conducted its review and could reach a decision, despite being aware of the significant concerns being raised,” Cass-Gottlieb said.
