The news: Advanced sensing and autonomous systems manufacturer Advanced Navigation has appointed Michelle Toscan as head of APAC sales.

The context: Toscan began in the role in November 2025, but her appointment was announced by the company on Tuesday.

Before starting at Advanced Navigation, Toscan was Anduril Industries Australia’s director strategy and commercial. She was also previously an account executive at Google, focused on government procurement, Leidos’ heading of sourcing and commercial management and a legal officer for the Royal Australian Navy.

Her responsibilities include leading engagement with the Department of Defence’s Global Supply Chain Program (GSCP) which aims to help Australian companies integrate their components into the supply chains of multinational defence giants.

The company already supplies inertial navigation systems to GSCP participant Rheinmetall for use in the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles.

What they said: “Toscan’s deep understanding of the Defence and Federal Government landscapes, coupled with her extensive commercial experience, makes her uniquely qualified to lead our APAC expansion," Advanced Navigation chief revenue officer Christopher McNamara said.

Advanced Navigation chair and former Liberal Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said: "Advanced Navigation continues to take charge and demonstrate what it means to be a visionary sovereign innovator.

"Michelle’s appointment is a signal of Advanced Navigation’s commitment to staying at the forefront of national and commercial interests across the region.”
