Alliance Aviation promotes COO Stewart Tully to lead airline
The news: ASX-listed charter and contract airline Alliance Aviation has promoted chief operating officer Stewart Tully to CEO, starting 1 March.
The numbers: Tully has been with Alliance since 2015 and held the COO position for three years. He has been in the aviation industry for 34 years.
The context: The company's managing director Scott McMillan is also the current CEO and is relinquishing that role to focus on strategy. Last year, McMillan and some shareholders were disappointed when the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) stopped Qantas from buying Alliance.
In other news, Alliance said it has started looking for two additional directors as part of board renewal.
What they said: "[Stewart and I] have worked extremely well together for the last nine years, and I have total confidence and trust in Stewart's abilities. Having held the dual role of managing director and CEO for the last 18 months, this appointment will now allow me to concentrate on company strategy, corporate development and growth," McMillan said.
